Accredited journalists from print, broadcast and online outlets are welcome to register for and attend 2013 International Conference on Family Planning at no cost. To request media accreditation, please fill out the form below to the best of your ability. Unfortunately, conference scholarship funds to cover transportation and lodging are not available at this time.
Please note that journalists can request media accreditation to attend the conference either in person or “virtually” through webcasts and online updates. Virtual registrants will have access to relevant materials in the lead-up to and during the conference.
If you have any questions about the media registration and accreditation process, please contact: [email protected].
Important Information about Visas and Media Accreditation
All foreign journalists travelling to Ethiopia must have a business visa and be approved by the government. The ICFP Communications team is happy to help facilitate this process. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.
Step 1: Complete Conference Media Accreditation Form
Please fill out the accreditation form to request media accreditation for the conference.
Step 2: Submit Accreditation Materials
Once you have completed this form, you will receive an email asking to submit the below accreditation materials to [email protected]:
- Three samples of your work under your byline (scanned, recordings or complete URLs)
- A letter from your editor (on official letterhead) addressed to the Government Communications Affairs Office, Foreign Media Accreditation and Monitoring Department that states he/she has assigned you to cover the conference
- A copy of your press credentials (if you do not have credentials, this must be clearly stated in the letter)
Step 3: Official Conference Registration
Once you have submitted your accreditation materials, we will register you for the conference. You will then be sent an email confirming your registration, which will include your official invitation letter to use for your visa application.
Step 4: Apply for a Visa
All foreign journalists with Ethiopian Missions in their countries must apply for a visa in their country (see below for full list of countries with missions). Call your country’s Ethiopian Mission or visit its website for instructions on how to apply for a visa. Please begin this process as soon as possible to ensure adequate processing time.
If you do not have a mission in your country, you must notify us by October 11, 2013 and send a scanned copy of your passport including the picture page to [email protected] in order for us to request a visa upon arrival for you.
Step 5: Apply for Ethiopian Government Approval
Send us a copy of your visa (if you have an Ethiopian Mission in your country), and we will submit your information to the government media office for formal approval.
For more information on the approval process, please visit the Ethiopian government website.
Step 6: Arrive in Addis
Bring one passport size photograph with you to complete the process at the airport in Ethiopia.
Broadcast Equipment
If you are planning to bring camera/video equipment to the conference center, you will need to apply and get approval through the Ethiopian Government Communication Affairs Office. We are happy to help you secure the appropriate approvals. If you are planning on bringing camera/video equipment to the meeting, please send an email to [email protected].
